Directorate of Distance Education was established in West Bengal in 1994 as per the suggestion of Distance Education Council (DEC). It has grown and developed since its inception and now in 2008 it has a good infrastructure of its own. Located in the Golabagh complex, DDE has a beautiful building of its own. It houses all the administrative departments of the Directorate and conducts counseling sessions for various courses conducted by it.
